The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has taken over the investigation of a homicide that occurred on Quadra Street on Wednesday, February 12th.
This homicide resulted in a woman losing her life.
Police say that at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to a multi-unit residence in the 1100-block of Quadra Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found one woman suffering from a stab wound.
Police and paramedics provided emergency medical aid, but she reportedly succumbed to her injuries.
Initially, detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit were called to the scene and launched the investigation; however, VIIMCU has now taken over the investigation.
According to VicPD, one man was arrested in relation to the incident and remains in custody.
Investigators say they believe this incident was isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
VIIMCU will continue their investigation, and say that no further details can be shared at this time.
VIIMCU is a barnch of the RCMP and is headquartered at 2881 Nanaimo Street in Victoria.
