Residents of Greater Victoria and surrounding regions should brace for strong winds this evening as Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the area.
Additionally, heavy rainfall has been observed in the region, compounding potential weather-related challenges.
According to the alert, gusty southwesterly winds will develop early this evening as a frontal system moves through. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 50 km/h, with gusts up to 80 km/h.
Some localized areas may experience even stronger gusts before conditions ease near midnight.
The affected regions include Greater Victoria, the Southern Gulf Islands, Surrey, Langley, and the Fraser Valley.
As the frontal system moves into the interior overnight, wind speeds are expected to subside, bringing calmer conditions by early Wednesday morning.
