VicPD pulled over a 21-year-old driver for tailgating another vehicle in icy conditions.
On Monday, February 3rd around 7:40 p.m., VicPD’s police chief, Del Manak observed an Infiniti car tailgating a taxi. The vehicle then sped around it, accelerating to 75km/hr on Blanshard Street by Mayfair Mall.
In a post on X, Manak said he pulled over the vehicle, and the driver was given a $167 ticket for speeding relative to the icy road conditions.

In a separate incident related to the snowy and icy conditions, VicPD shared another X post early this morning regarding a single-vehicle accident that occurred the night prior.
The incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on Monday, February 3rd, and resulted in a flour-block area in the Quadra-Topaz area being without power for the night after the driver took out a power pole.
VicPD confirmed in the post that there were no major injuries, but resulted in a cold and dark night for the surrounding residents.

Police are using these incidents as a reminder to drive carefully while the roads are slick.
Additionally, if you are going to be driving, remember to sweep off any snow and scrape any ice on top of your vehicle to ensure your view isn’t obstructed.
