Campsites in many BC Parks are now open to those looking to reserve the perfect spot for their spring camping trips.
All BC Parks campsites can be booked up to four months in advance of the desired arrival date, which means the May long weekend will soon be up for grabs.
This year, there are 60 new campsites located in three BC Parks which are being added to the reservation service.
The new campsites include:
- 30 new campsites with power hookups in Fintry Park near Kelowna;
- 17 new walk-in sites at Rolley Lake Park near Mission; and
- 13 new sites (eight park-beside for tent camping and five walk-in) at China Beach Campground in Juan de Fuca Park near Victoria.
Additionally, several of the available parks have been upgraded.
At Fintry Park, located near Vernon, new flush toilets were installed, there are upgraded services centres with a dishwashing station, a new potable water tap was put in and new garbage/recycling containers were all a part of the $1.5 million campground upgrades.
Around Mission, a new $2-million walk-in campground at Rolley Lake Park was implemented which has a communal day-use shelter, bike racks, bear-proof storage and picnic tables.
Here on Vancouver Island, China Beach Campground now has two accessible showers and flush toilets are under construction and scheduled to open in May 2025.
Additionally, China Beach will have 13 new campsites.
Reservations for the new campsites at Fintry and Rolley Lake parks open at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15th, for May 15th as an arrival date.
Meanwhile, reservations for the new sites at China Beach Campground will be open at a later date.
In addition to the new campsites, the BC government has been investing in repairing damaged infrastructure at several parks that were impacted by recent storms.
Most notably, the opening date for camping reservations in Golden Ears Park near Maple Ridge are being delayed due to several sections of the Golden Ears Parkway being under constriction.
This roadway provides access to all three Golden Ears campgrounds and is expected to reopen in spring 2025.
Whenever camping reservations first open up, it is always a competitive process to get that special site reserved.
So mark your calendars, set a reminder and you should get a spot.
Bookings can be made via BC Parks website.
