The renowned Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its predictions for the early spring months of 2025, which show BC is projected to see mild conditions in April and May.
As the flowers begin to bloom across the southern regions of BC and Vancouver Island, the Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting “warmer-than-normal temperatures” for the month of April.
Meanwhile, May will be slightly cooler than recent past years.
Additionally, precipitation is anticipated to be above normal levels during these two months. With January being the driest in recent history in Victoria, this may help ecosystems recover and mitigate summer drought conditions.
Similarly to BC’s predicted spring conditions, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, the prairies and Southern Ontario will experience warmer than normal temperatures.
The Atlantic regions and Northern Ontario will not fare so well, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. These regions are expected to have a cooler than normal spring.
In terms of precipitation, western provinces will be wetter than usual for this time of year. This includes Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
Most Atlantic provinces will also see above normal precipitation.
Precipitation will be below normal in the heart of Canada and specifically, Western Atlantic Canada, including Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac is the oldest, continuous publication that has been consistently released annually since 1792.
The publication primarily focusses on weather forecasts, planting charts, astronomical data, recipes and related articles.
Other topics covered can include gardening, sports, astronomy, folklore and predictions on lifestyle trends for the coming year.
