VicPD arrested a man from the Cool Aid Society’s housing facility in the 500 block of Ellice Street last night after an incident which led to an evacuation.
Police say that at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday January 29th, officers responded to the call which detailed the possibility of an explosive device on-site.
VicPD attended the scene and evacuated the building to ensure the safety of Cool Aid’s residents.
Additionally, BC Transit provided buses for the evacuated residents to shelter while the situation was investigated.
According to VicPD, one man was taken into custody.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) Explosive Disposal Unit worked with the Integrated Canine Service (ICS), clearing the residence and finding no trace of an explosive device.
Police say the situation was resolved just after 8 p.m.
Following his arrest, the man was released with conditions and a future court date.
VicPD says they will not be sharing additional information regarding this incident.
