West Shore RCMP have announced that a man has been charged and sentenced in regards to an incident that occurred in the fall of last year.
On October 28, 2024, police responded to an incident that took place at the Langford Heritage Library located at 102-1314 Lake Point Way.
There, police say a suspect had “ripped wires and kicked a hole in the wall” inside the library before leaving the premises.
Officers identified the suspect via surveillance footage as 43-year old James Cochrane. The suspect was taken into custody and arrested for mischief shortly after.
This week, on January 28th, Cochrane entered a guilty plea to mischief, along with guilty pleas for other unrelated court files.
He was then sentenced to six months of jail time with a subsequent nine months of probation.
Police say that Cochrane will remain in custody and is serving his prison sentence.
