Several charges have been laid following a joint operation by North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP aimed at cracking down on alcohol- and cannabis-related offences.
On Thursday, January 16th, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP worked closely with other agencies, including Indigenous police services, North Cowichan and Duncan bylaw, and inspectors from the liquor and cannabis branch.
According to police, their aim was to address issues related to open liquor and drug consumption as well as public intoxication in the Duncan area.
Police say 20 charges were laid under the Liquor Control Licencing Act and other bylaws.
Three warrants for arrest were executed, which resulted in the seizure of several grams of controlled substances and two weapons confiscated.
Additionally, officers handed out a dozen verbal warnings and provided education to those committing minor liquor and cannabis act infractions.
