Theatre for a wonderful cause!

As many are aware, the holidays can often add an unprecedented amount of discomfort in terms of financial and emotional stress.

This is especially true for the vulnerable citizens of Greater Victoria, who often don’t have a warm place to sleep in addition to lacking support and stability in other areas of their lives.

Our Place Society exists for this reason, and works tirelessly to ensure that Victoria’s most vulnerable, including people struggling with homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use issues and more, are getting what they need.

This holiday season, to continue on their mission to provide services to those in need, Our Place’s A Christmas Carol is gracing the stage once again with some of Victoria’s well-renowned media personalities stepping into the iconic roles of Tiny Tim, Scrooge, and Bob Cratchit.

The annual dramatic reading, a family-friendly tradition returns on Friday, December 13th, at 7 p.m. at First Met United Church.

Not only does this performance present a unique local rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic, the night will also feature singalong carols led by the West Coast Reach Association—a diverse musical group that includes members of the Our Place outREACH Choir.

A Christmas Carol is always one of our most joyous family-friendly traditions at Our Place,” said Julian Daly, CEO of Our Place.

“It’s a story close to my heart because it shows how kindness, charity and empathy can overcome meanness—and that change is always possible. Plus watching familiar media personalities bring that story to life is truly magical.”

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children, and can be purchased on Our Place’s website.

All of the proceeds will support Our Place’s vital meal services, helping to provide warm meals and support to those in need across the city.

So, gather the family and join in this heartwarming holiday tradition—it’s an evening of festive cheer and community spirit you won’t want to miss!
