Comox Valley RCMP are appealing to the public for assistance following a disturbing encounter at a Union Bay residence on Saturday night.
At around 10:10 p.m. on November 30th, a homeowner in the 5500-block of 7th Street was startled by loud banging on the side of her house.
When she stepped onto her second-floor balcony to investigate, she encountered a man wearing what appeared to be a gas mask.
The homeowner told police that the man made a brief appearance before attempting to climb onto her second-floor deck. She immediately retreated indoors and called 911.
Comox Valley RCMP officers, including Police Dog Services and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, responded to the scene and conducted an extensive search of the area.
Despite their efforts, the suspect was not located.
Police are now urging residents in the area to check their surveillance systems, doorbell cameras, and dashcams for any unusual activity around the time of the incident. RCMP are particularly interested in footage from the 5500-block of 7th Street and its surrounding area.
While police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this suspicious incident they are encouraging the public to remain vigilant.
