Share

This morning, Oak Bay Police issued a warning for the public to avoid the area of Bee Street and Cadboro Bay Road as they investigate a report of a weapons call.

Police say that Oak Bay High School had been placed in “hold and secure” protocol out of an abundance of caution.

They added that despite this precaution, they do not anticipate there being any immediate threat to the public.

Since this area containment and hold and secure were initiated at around 10:30 a.m., Oak Bay Police provided an update via X that the situation had been resolved peacefully.

They added that the hold and secure protociol at Oak Bay High had been lifted.

Oak Bay Police have not provided any additional information aside from the above in regards to this incident.

School District 61 says the school continued to function normally, with exterior doors locked during the precautionary protocol.
