Spread holiday cheer: How London Drugs is supporting seniors in Victoria and beyond

Loneliness affects a significant number of seniors across Canada, and this holiday season, London Drugs is doing something about it!

The “Stocking Stuffers for Seniors” program officially launched on Tuesday, November 12th and will run until Sunday, December 8th, and is designed to brighten the holidays for seniors facing isolation.

Since its inaugural launch in 2015, this heartwarming initiative now spans 35 cities, partnering with care homes and charitable organizations across Western Canada—including Victoria!

Seniors in more than 200 care homes will receive gifts purchased by you through this program. The gifts are collected at participating London Drugs locations and delivered via the care homes or charity partners that are linked to the store.

“Since the inception of the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program, Victoria residents have responded with care and compassion for the local seniors who often don’t have the family or resources to receive holiday gifts,” said Cory Bilodeau, London Drugs Store Manager in Victoria.

“The level of kindness and generosity I have seen since the beginning of the program continues to inspire me with the true spirit of what the holidays can be.”

Those wanting to  participate can pick up a gift tag from one of the holiday trees displayed in stores. Each tag represents a specific item requested by a senior, making it easy for anyone to contribute.

“We’re committed to working with our customers to bring joy to those without family or friends this holiday season,” said Clint Mahlman, president and COO of London Drugs.

“The Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program allows us to collectively make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most, especially during what can be a challenging time of year.”

Whether it’s a cozy pair of socks, a thoughtful puzzle, or a festive treat, each item helps spread some holiday cheer and reminds seniors that they are cared for!

In addition to the opportunity to make a difference, London Drugs is rewarding its LDExtras members for their generosity.

Those who donate a gift before December 1st will earn 1,000 LDExtras points, while donations made after December 1st (until the program’s end on December 8th) will earn 500 points.

“We encourage customers to join us in rekindling the spirit of giving and ensuring no senior is forgotten this year,” Mahlman added.

Get involved, spread some festive kindness and make a wonderful impact on local seniors!
