Saanich Police say the black Honda Civic that was stolen from a McDonald’s drive-thru on Thursday, October 31st has now been found, but the carjacker is still at large.
A suspect, described to be dressed in all black and wearing a mask, approached the vehicle as it was preparing to leave the McDonald’s drive-thru on Saanich Road near Uptown Mall.
The suspect opened the driver’s door, allegedly indicated that they had a weapon and demanded the owner exit the vehicle.
The suspect then drove off eastbound on Saanich Road.
The vehicle owner, though physically unharmed, was shaken up by the incident and sought help inside the McDonald’s, where someone helped by calling the police.
The stolen vehicle was then found two days later, on November 2nd, in the 1700-block of Swartz Bay Road, just off the Pat Bay Highway in North Saanich.

“The suspect was not with the vehicle, and a K9 search was unsuccessful in locating them,” wrote a Saanich Police spokesperson in a media release.
Police are still hoping for the public’s assistance with this investigation. They are specifically asking anyone in the area of Saanich Road and Oak Street around 6:45 p.m. on October 31st, to submit any dashcam footage or information regarding this incident.
Additionally, those in the area of Swartz Bay Road and Wain Road between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on November 2nd are being asked to submit footage or information.
They ask that those with footage or information email the Saanich Police Major Crime Unit.
