Oak Bay Police are investigating two recent incidents of theft from automobiles, both of which occurred after vehicles were left unlocked.
In the early hours of November 17th, at 12:14 a.m., police responded to a report in the 2700 block of Thompson Avenue.
A driver returned to their car to find a man rummaging through their belongings. When confronted, the suspect dropped all the items he had taken and fled the scene on a white bicycle with a bag hanging from the front.
The suspect, described as approximately 16-years-old, 5’6” tall with a medium build, was wearing a light grey hoodie and jeans.
The incident is still under investigation and the young suspect was able to get away.
Another similar incident occurred the previous day, November 16th, in the 2300 block of Cadboro Bay Road.
Another driver discovered their vehicle had been rummaged through after leaving it unlocked overnight. The only item reported missing was the vehicle’s insurance papers.
In a media release, Oak Bay Police issued a reminder to residents to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables when unattended.
