New information kiosks have opened up in both Mayfair Shopping Centre and the Bay Centre to educate Victorians about the massive undertaking at Crystal Pool, which would cost the City hundreds of millions.
The new replacement facility for Crystal Pool would cost the city between $205 million and $216 million, depending on what residents and city council decide will best serve the community.
There are two different potential designs that have been drawn up, each situating the new pool on a different section of Central Park.
The City of Victoria decided while discussing the merits of the different sites to put the decision to the people.
Regardless of the site, features of the new pool area will include a 50 metre pool, leisure pool with 25 metre warm-up lanes, a shallow area, play features, a lazy river, two hot pools at different temperatures, a sauna and steam room as well as seating and viewing areas.
Other recreational features would be a large fitness studio, multi-purpose rooms, community gathering spaces, a universal washroom and change room options, an expanded parking including accessible and EV charging options and short- and long-term bike parking.

Both the Mayfair Shopping Centre and Bay Centre information kiosks will have more extensive information on all features, aspects, costs and timelines, and will have staff on site to answer any questions.
These information kiosks will only be open until January 31st.
Additionally, the City says information panels will also be up in the Crystal Pool lobby and will remain there until the referendum in early 2025.
An exact date has not been announced yet for the referendum to take place.
The referendum will ask Victorians to cast their vote on whether they want a new pool at all, which would prompt the City to borrow millions, increasing property taxes, and what site they would like to see it built on.
