Get ready for some holiday magic!
The 16th annual Gingerbread Showcase opens to the public this Friday, November 22nd, promising a delightful blend of family fun, creativity, and community spirit.
Presented by Habitat for Humanity Victoria, in partnership with Peninsula Co-op, and hosted by the Hotel Grand Pacific, this beloved event is back and awaits your curious eyes!
The showcase will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until January 5th, offering visitors the chance to admire incredible gingerbread creations and support a great cause.
This year’s theme is “Through a Child’s Eyes,” which is bound to bring out the best in our local bakers and give everyone a peek into the minds of the artists.
“It seems our bakers raise the bar every year, and their creativity is on full display,” said Wes Shoemaker, Habitat Victoria’s Board Chair.
Visitors will have the chance to vote for their favorite gingerbread creation, with the coveted People’s Choice Award up for grabs.
In a media release, Reid James, the General Manager of the Hotel Grand Pacific, shared his excitement about hosting the event again.
“We are looking forward to welcoming thousands of generous visitors to see the amazing creations, in support of Habitat Victoria and their mission to build affordable housing,” he said.
Peninsula Co-op is the presenting sponsor for this year’s showcase, and they’re thrilled to be a part of the event.
“It’s heartwarming to see everyone, our team and community members alike, getting into the groove of giving back,” a Co-op representative added.
“We know this will bring smiles to so many faces while having a positive impact on the community.”
Admission to the showcase is free, but visitors are encouraged to make a donation when voting for their favorite gingerbread house.
All proceeds will go towards Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing affordable housing in the community.
Can’t make it down in person? No worries! Those who can’t make it in person can also view the entries and vote online.
The winners will be announced on January 6th, so make sure to stop by, vote, and spread some holiday cheer while supporting a fantastic cause!
