Capital City Comic Con announces it will not be returning to Victoria

Capital City Comic Con has been around for six years, but has now announced a heartfelt goodbye as the convention will be closing its doors for good.

The convention has been on hiatus for the past two years, but has been around for the past six—uniting comic enthusiasts, cosplayers and conventioneers all the while.

“Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding while we were on an extended break,” wrote Capital City Comic Con organizers on social media.

“After much discussion over the past year, we sadly announce that we do not have any future plans for another convention.”

They expressed their heartfelt thanks for the years of support and to the community, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, guests and everyone who helped make the convention a success.

“We are proud to have put on three wonderful conventions, and we will cherish the memories created,” the organizers continued.

They also announced that for those interested, the convention will be having a big sale to sell the remaining merchandise from the annual event.

Since the post went live on Capital City Comic Con’s Instagram page, many people have been expressing their thanks to the organizers for having put on this event for so many years.

“Capcity [sic] was my first ever con and what proved to me I could sell art,” wrote one commenter.

Another commenter said, “Very sad about this. The best little con I’d ever been to and the artists and vendors were so unique. I bought things there I couldn’t find anywhere else! Tragic.”

While that convention may be no longer, Island FanCon announced it will return for three days from March 28th to 30th at Capital City Centre in Langford.

With the Capital City Comic Con being officially over, let us know your memories of the event in the comments below.
