West Shore RCMP have located and arrested a man they believe to have been responsible for a hit-and-run.
At around 3:34 p.m. on October 10th, officers responded to a call of a hit-and-run that took place at the Peninsula Co-op Gas Station, located at 890 Goldstream Avenue in Langford.
Police say they learned at the scene the driver responsible was driving a grey 2005 Mazda 3.
They added that the driver had been reportedly confronted about drinking and driving before striking the victim at a slow speed.
According to West Shore RCMP, the victim received non-life-threatening injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics.
Police say that witnesses provided the licence plate of the vehicle to attending officers. Soon after this, the Mazda involved was located and its driver was arrested for impaired driving and assault with a weapon.
The suspect, a 66-year-old man, provided breath samples which reportedly indicated he had over twice the legal limit of alcohol.
The suspect’s vehicle was subsequently impounded and the suspect was released with a court date and a 90-day driving prohibition.
