A 52-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his mother, a 78-year-old Parksville resident.
James Griffiths was arrested by Oceanside RCMP on October 4 following an extensive investigation by the General Investigation Section.
He has since been formally charged with the murder of his mother, Donna Webster, and made a brief court appearance.
Griffiths’s next court date is scheduled for October 15 in Nanaimo.
As the case is now before the courts, police have stated that no further information will be released.
