The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been deployed to Port Hardy, to assist with a suspected homicide investigation.
On Sunday, October 6th, at approximately 4:33 p.m., Port Hardy RCMP responded to a report of an injured person in the 8800-block of Park Drive, believed to have been assaulted.
The individual was transported to the hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
VIIMCU has taken over the investigation and is working closely with the Port Hardy RCMP, the Forensic Identification Section (FIS), and the BC Coroners Service to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
The investigation is currently in the evidence-gathering stage, and police no further details are available at this time.
