VicPD are seeking the public’s help in identifying a young woman, who allegedly sprayed a man with bear spray on the Johnson Street Bridge.
On the evening of Saturday, October 5th, around 10:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a man getting sprayed near the Johnson Street Bridge on Wharf Street.
A witness told officers that he saw a group of young individuals spray the victim before fleeing the scene.
The victim suffered the effects of the spray, receiving minor injuries.
VicPD searched the area for the suspects, but due to the limited descriptions of the youths, they were unable to make an arrest.
CCTV footage was obtained, and shows a group of what appears to be youths walking eastbound on the bridge as the male victim passes through the group.
Moments later, a young woman is seen taking a can of bear spray and spraying the victim in the face. Immediately after spraying him, the group ran westbound on the bridge.
CCTV also captured some of the youths filming the incident on their cell phones prior to departing westbound.
Police are looking to speak to any additional witnesses about this incident, or anyone who can help in identifying the suspect.
