Fraudsters selling fake Taylor Swift concerts via Facebook Marketplace: Saanich Police

Share

Saanich Police have issued a warning regarding the fraudulent resale of Taylor Swift tickets.

According to officers, the scammers are targeting individuals looking to purchase tickets through Facebook community groups and Facebook Marketplace.

The sellers are said to appear legitimate and promise to send the tickets once the payment is received.

After the buyer sends the money via e-transfer, the tickets are never sent.

“Buying items online carries risks, especially with re-sold tickets, as it is difficult to verify their legitimacy,” a media release said.

“Once you send an e-transfer, the money is gone.”

Police are reminding the public that purchasing concert tickets should only be done through verified organizations.
