A significant drug bust in Campbell River has resulted in multiple charges and the discovery of Fentanyl that had been diluted, dyed, flavoured, and molded into shapes resembling dinosaurs and Lego bricks.
On September 25th, the Campbell River Street Crime Unit, with assistance from various divisions including the Major Crime Unit, executed three search warrants in the city.
Two of the searches took place in the 900 block of Island Highway South, while a third was conducted in the 600 block of Nursery Road.
During the searches, RCMP seized over 1.6 kilograms of Fentanyl, more than 180 grams of cocaine, 290 grams of methamphetamine, and a small amount of dilaudid pills.
Additional items such as cash, weapons—including a firearm—and drug manufacturing equipment were also recovered.
One of the most alarming aspects of the seizure was the discovery of Fentanyl that had been altered to appeal to children or unsuspecting users.
The highly potent opioid had been dyed and flavoured, then molded into playful shapes like dinosaurs and Lego bricks.
Leah Lewis of Campbell River has been charged with drug trafficking and production offences and remains in custody. Authorities have indicated that five other individuals are still under investigation and may also face charges related to drug trafficking.
