Foodies, whether you’re a resident or visitor, ready your bellies!
Coming to Victoria on September 1st and running until September 30th, everyone will get the chance to explore downtown Victoria’s local grocery, candy, chocolate, and general shops during the first official Snack Crawl.
Each participant can pick up a map and passport, collecting stamps as you dine your way across the city!
In an interview with organizer Holly Pilot, she mentioned that the idea for the Snack Crawl came from her time managing Belle General—a specialty snack/art gift store.
“Snacks are always on my mind!” she said.
“I wanted to create an event that would connect people with businesses they might not have ventured into yet. The main goal of Snack Crawl is to draw attention to small downtown businesses by bringing the community together through something we all love: food.”
Pilot added that each business will have their own ‘Staff Pick’ snack section too, which really emphasizes the sharing and community aspect of the event.
Supporting the city’s local businesses was especially important to her as she brainstormed how best to go about planning and executing the scale of her idea.
“Local shops add a lot of unique character and charm to downtown Victoria, making it a more attractive place to live and visit!” she said.
“These shops often offer unique or specialty items not found in chain stores, providing a more diverse shopping experience.”
She approached each store in person, knowing that building a face-to-face relationship with each owner would strengthen overall community connection and increase chances of the event becoming an annual affair.
The Snack Crawl will include treats such as unique Japanese candy, artisan chocolate, sustainable snacks, nostalgic treats, snacks from Mexico, Africa, Jamaica and more.

Purchases aren’t required to get a stamp or to be entered in for the chance to win a ‘Snack Pack’, which will include some of the staff pick snacks.
