A man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to a shooting that occurred in Hamilton, Ontario was arrested in Saanich last week.
Saanich Police say they received a request from the Hamilton Police Service to apprehend the man who is allegedly connected to the shooting which took place on May 13th.
The suspect’s name is Malcolm Davis and police say prior to his arrest, he was considered “armed and dangerous.”
Davis was located by Saanich Police and members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) near the intersection of Quadra Street and Cloverdale Avenue .
Police say he was taken into custody without incident.
In Ontario, Davis faces the following charges:
- Discharge with Intent
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
- Failure to stop after accident x 2
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to a court order x 2
Police say he is now in the custody of Hamilton Police.
Prior to his custody being transferred, he was being held at the Vancouver Island Regional Correction Centre
