An erratic driver is being sought by Port Alberni RCMP after a witness submitted dashcam footage of an incident to local police.
Police say on July 23rd, at approximately 8 a.m., they received the report of a driver being dangerous on River Road near Golden Street.
RCMP are looking for the driver of a grey Dodge 1500 pick-up truck, which reportedly moved into the oncoming lane nearly colliding with two vehicles, which were travelling in the opposite direction.
According to police, if not for the split-second maneuvers of these two vehicles the truck would have collided with them head on at high speed.
In the dashcam footage supplied to police, the speed of the truck and sunlight glare obscured the licence plate of the truck in question.
“The dashcam footage is appalling but sadly not an isolated incident in our community. This reckless and dangerous driving behaviour is inexcusable,” said Cst. Jordan Fleurissaint.
Port Alberni RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the truck and driver.
Police describe the truck as an older model grey Dodge 1500 with matching canopy, and has chrome rims, running boards, grill as well as front and rear bumpers.
