VicPD are seeking the driver and any witnesses after a cyclist was reportedly spat on and struck by a vehicle in mid-March.
On Sunday, March 17th at around 5 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Douglas Street and Belleville Street after a cyclist was knocked off their bike by a vehicle.
Officers were able to determine that the cyclist had been at the intersection of Government and Belleville Street when the driver of a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) spat at them through their open window.
Shortly after, the cyclist and driver met again near the intersection of Douglas and Belleville Street where the cyclist attempted to confront the driver.
The cyclist was then allegedly struck by the SUV and knocked off of their bike. Emergency services attended the scene and assessed the cyclist.
The black SUV is described as a 2010-2014 model, possibly a Nissan or Saturn, with BC Parks license plates. According to police, the vehicle also had pre-existing damage to the driver’s side door.
Investigators are in search of both the driver and the vehicle and to speak with any witnesses or anyone that may have dashcam footage of these incidents.
