Saanich Police have confirmed a 29-year-old woman has died after being struck by a pickup truck on the Pat Bay Highway Friday night.
The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on February 2nd in the 5100-block of the highway.
The northbound lanes were closed for several hours while Saanich Police traffic investigators conducted a thorough investigation.
While it hadn’t been fully confirmed at the time, BC Emergency Health Services told Victoria Buzz that two ambulances were dispatched to the scene; however, no patients were transported to the hospital.
“The event did not take place in or near a cross walk,” stated Saanich Police Inspector Damian Kowalewich.

The 29-year-old woman from Greater Victoria was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and has been cooperative.
“Saanich Police Collision Analysts continue to investigate; however, impairment or
speed of the driver do not appear to be factors,” stated Inspector Damian Kowalewich.
“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman”.
