Celebrate powerful and influential women within your community!

On Wednesday, February 7th at 7 p.m., join Nanaimo in welcoming their inaugural Women of Influence (WIN) awards ceremony at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

With just over a month left before this marvelous gala, WIN invites you to show your support and cheer for the nominees as these deserving women are recognized for their accomplishments.

This monumental evening promises a celebration of empowerment, community spirit, and most importantly—fun!

“The Women of Influence Nanaimo Awards is more than just a ceremony; it’s an inclusive platform designed to support and celebrate the power of influence among women, non-binary, 2-spirit, and gender-diverse individuals in our communities,” a media release reads.

“The awards aim to salute the unique achievements of diverse people representing various spheres, careers, and initiatives that contribute to the advancement of women and the overall fabric of our community.”

The acknowledged nominees will be coming from areas throughout the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN), which includes Nanaimo, Lantzville, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, as well as Gabriola and Ladysmith.

There are 11 categories and the winners for each will be announced at the awards gala through a selection process undertaken by a dedicated selection committee.

WIN Awards Chair, Blaise Hunter, has expressed how thrilled she is about the overwhelming response this event has received so far.

“We had no idea how this would take off like it did. We are overjoyed at the number of nominations that came in,” Hunter said.

“It’s been awe-inspiring to witness everyone coming together and championing their own. And the ticket sales were the biggest surprise. Our first goal was 200, and then we sold out and had to expand our venue. We have over 550 tickets sold!”

Not only is this event a celebration of wonderful women, it’s also the perfect way to kick off Sexual & Reproductive Health Awareness Week.

Proceeds from the event will go toward a local nonprofit program, Footprints: Infertility & Pregnancy Loss Support Society—aiming to help families going through infertility and loss as well as bring awareness to reproductive health rights.

They provide free resource tools and mental health support bags for parents to help them navigate through their needs during trying times.

If you wish to be a part of this landmark event, tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite, and are $55 per person, or $440 for a table of eight.

If you’re unable to attend in person, the gala will also be broadcasted on Rogers TV in the days following the event—allowing a wider audience to join in on the celebration!
