MV Coho ferry out of service for over a month for annual maintenance

Share

For those seeking to take a new year trip to Port Angeles, travel may be a bit harder and will take a lot longer than normal.

As of Wednesday, January 3rd, Black Ball’s MV Coho ferry will be out of commission until Wednesday, February 7th.

The Coho undergoes an annual drydocking to ensure routine maintenance can be conducted on the vessel, and historically, January is a slow month for the tourism industry in Greater Victoria.

Now, for those seeking a trip to Port Angeles for work or leisure, the only way to get to and from the city will be via BC Ferries.

According to Google Maps, the fastest route in a vehicle would take around seven hours to complete, including the BC Ferries ride.

Normally the trip would only take around 90 minutes via the Coho from Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
