A registered nurse in Tofino has been suspended from her nursing registration for one year due to multiple instances of sexual misconduct towards her coworkers.
According to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, Andrea McGowan, has been handed a one-year suspension of her nursing registration due to multiple instances of sexual misconduct towards her coworkers.
In a notice posted to the organizations website, the suspension is a result of a “specific incident” of sexual misconduct that occurred at a work function in 2021.
Additionally, the suspension encompasses on-and-off duty sexual misconduct incidents towards coworkers. These incidents include unwelcome and unwanted sexualized comments, gestures, and other inappropriate messages communicated through social media platforms.
McGowan has voluntarily agreed to the one-year suspension.
“The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms will protect the public,” the notice ended.
