Three drivers nabbed for excessive speeding within hours of each other: Oak Bay Police

Speeding has recently been a persistent issue in Oak Bay, and on a particular day, police apprehended several drivers within hours of each other.

On Saturday, November 4th, Police say three separate drivers were reported to have been excessively speeding, and two of those caught were in the same area.

At around 7:35 p.m., police were conducting speed enforcement near Beach Drive and Newport Avenue when they stopped the first driver. 

A 22-year-old man was driving the vehicle, reported to have been going 105 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. 

The driver was issued a $368 speeding ticket and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Nearly an hour later, at 8:22 p.m., another vehicle was stopped in the same spot.

Police pulled over a 55-year-old man going 95 km/h in a 40 km/h zone. He was given the same violation ticket of $368 and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

A few hours later at around 11:37 p.m., police were stationed near Cedar Hill Cross Road and Crestview Road when they stopped another vehicle going 139 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

The 21-year-old male driver was issued a speed violation ticket amounting to $368 and his vehicle was also impounded for seven days.

These three incidents were just a few of the speeding drivers nabbed in Oak Bay over the weekend, on Friday, November 3rd, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Oak Bay Police conducted speed enforcement near Cedar Hill Cross and Crestview Roads when they caught a 17-year-old man traveling at a speed of 102 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. 

And earlier in the week, on November 1st, at around 4:15 p.m., Oak Bay stopped a 24-year-old woman for driving at 81 km/h in a 40 km/h zone near Beach Drive and Newport Avenue.
