A section of Thetis Lake Regional Park has been closed remains closed off after an incident at Prior Lake.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, West Shore RCMP said there is no ongoing risk to public safety, however, an investigation is still ongoing.
The Capital Regional District (CRD), in collaboration with RCMP, decided to implement a temporary closure of both Prior Lake and the nearby McKenzie Creek Trail.
Barricades and prominently displayed closure signs have been installed in relevant sections of the park.
While details of the incident were not released, there are unconfirmed reports of a drowning at Prior Lake where the person never surfaced.
“We will provide more updates when they become available, however for now we are asking the public to avoid Prior Lake and Mackenzie Creek Trail until further notice,” said West Shore RCMP.
Victoria Buzz has reached out to both BC Coroner’s and West Shore RCMP for more information and will update this article once we have heard back.
More to come.
