Life is a spectacle—especially when Cirque du Soleil is part of it!
The largest theatrical producer in the world announced their famed show ‘Corteo’ will be returning to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for seven performances from January 11th to 14th, 2024.
Directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, this surreal production first featured in Montreal in 2005, and has since become one of Cirque du Soleil’s most popular shows, airing in over 64 cities in 20 countries on four continents.
Corteo, an Italian word meaning “cortege,” presents a jubilant procession envisioned by a clown. Through a captivating blend of acrobatics, comedy, and acting, the show transports spectators to a whimsical theatrical realm that exists between heaven and earth.
Amidst a festive carnival ambiance, the clown envisions his own funeral, overseen by tender and caring angels. By juxtaposing the grand with the small, the absurd with the tragic, and the pursuit of perfection with the allure of imperfection, Corteo showcases the clown’s strength, fragility, wisdom, and kindness, symbolizing the shared humanity within each of us.
The enchanting music fluctuates between lyrical and playful, creating a timeless celebration where illusion playfully dances with reality.
The stage takes center stage within the arena, effectively dividing the venue into two halves, allowing each audience section to face the other, providing a unique perspective for both viewers and performers.
This arrangement creates an unprecedented ambiance for a Cirque du Soleil arena show.
The stage design features grand set curtains inspired by the Eiffel Tower and hand-painted central curtains, evoking a sense of grandeur that sets the poetic tone of Corteo.
Tickets for Corteo in Victoria are available online exclusively to Club Cirque members starting today at 10 a.m. online. General on-sale starts on Monday, June 5th.
