Another Vancouver Island resident could rise to fame after knocking out a performance on Canada’s largest talent show.

24-year-old Filipino-Canadian vocalist, Raymond Salgado, who lives near Nanaimo, has secured a spot in the Canada’s Got Talent final, thanks to overwhelming audience support.

The announcement was made on CityTV’s “Breakfast Television” on Thursday morning, revealing that Salgado was one of the top two vote-getters among the seven acts up for vote.

Salgado’s semi-final performance on Tuesday, May 9th, where he sang a cover of Nina Simone-turn-Michael Bublé song “Feeling Good,” was received with much enthusiasm.

The performance was a follow-up to his impressive audition piece, which aired in April, where he sang Bryan Adams’ classic “Heaven.”

Salgado’s success in making it to the finals of the talent show is a testament to his impressive vocal abilities and hard work.

The final will be a chance for him to showcase his talent to a national audience and compete for the grand prize. Fans and supporters of Salgado are eagerly anticipating his final performance and hoping for him to bring home the trophy.

The live finale of Canada’s Got Talent will be held at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

The highly anticipated episode will air on Tuesday, May 16th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Citytv and Citytv+. Salgado was voted through by Canadians.

He and the other finalists are competing for $150,000 and a spot in an America’s Got Talent show in Las Vegas.
