Suspect sought after he punched a restaurant patron in face in Bastion Square

VicPD are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly assaulted a restaurant patron on Monday night.

According to the police, at around 8:30 p.m. on March 13th, staff at a restaurant located in Bastion Square refused to serve a man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The man became verbally abusive to staff, and another patron intervened and asked him to leave.

The man threatened the patron with a chair, but another customer took it away from him.

The man left the restaurant, but not before punching the first patron in the face and damaging an umbrella.

Police said the victim sustained non-life-threatening facial and dental injuries.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man who is approximately 35-years-old, 6′ 1″ tall with a slim build. He has short brown hair, shaved to stubble on the sides and back, and longer on top.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black bomber jacket, dark pants, dark shoes, a black backpack, and carrying a black bag with red piping.

CCTV footage of the suspect has been released by the authorities, and images of the suspect can be found below.
