The BC Ministry of Health reported 1,518 new cases of COVID-19 in the province on Thursday, February 3rd.
There have been 329,143 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC since the pandemic began.
New cases were reported in these health regions:
Vancouver Coastal Health: 217
Fraser Health: 424
Island Health: 217
Interior Health: 431
Northern Health: 227
Resident outside Canada: Two new cases
There are currently 25,554 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 1,544 of those active cases are on Vancouver Island.
There are currently 985 people in hospital with COVID-19, 145 of whom are in critical care — ICU or acute care units.
In the past 24-hours, 13 people have died from COVID-related causes, bringing the provincial death toll 2,656. Two of those deaths were in the Island Health region.
Outbreaks
There have been two new healthcare facility outbreaks at Trinity Care Centre and Gillis House (Interior Health).
The outbreak at St. Ann’s Catholic School (Northern Health) has been declared over.
There are a total of 56 ongoing health care outbreaks in the province with 24 health of those outbreaks being in the Island Health region.
Vaccinations
As of Thursday, February 3rd:
10,842,432 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in BC.
92.8% of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 90.1% have received their second dose.
93.1% of all eligible adults in BC have received their first dose, and 90.6% have received their second dose.
47.6% of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their booster shot.
