Emergency crews shut down section of Trans Canada Hwy after vehicle incident (UPDATED)

UPDATE: DriveBC confirms that traffic has now been reopened in both directions. Commuters can still expect delays and congestion.

A section of the Trans Canada Highway has been closed off to traffic in the aftermath of a vehicle incident.

West Shore RCMP confirmed in a tweet that they are investigating a two-car collision at the Trans-Canada Highway and West Shore Parkway intersection, and that traffic is closed in both directions at the location.

Eye-witnesses report that fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars are on-site.

The crash reportedly took place at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17th.

Passenger vehicles are being diverted onto Finlayson Arm Road for northbound traffic. According to a tweet from Emcon Services Inc. shared by DriveBC’s official Twitter account, the highway should be reopening around 3:15 p.m.
