Facebook post calls out Yellow Cab Victoria for denying ride to elderly man

A Facebook post has gone viral after it called out Yellow Cab Victoria drivers for refusing service to an elderly passenger at the Swartz Bay BC Ferries terminal.

According to Victoria resident Tania Phiefer who observed the incident, multiple Yellow Cab drivers refused to take on an elderly, disabled passenger who was trying to hail a ride to Sidney.

The Facebook post alleges that the drivers would rather take on passengers whose destinations are further away so they can make more money off of them, in favour of an elderly man with a “bum leg and cane”.

The man ended up having to take the bus, with assistance from other bus passengers, in order to get to his destination. According to Phiefer’s post, he appeared “very shaken and upset”.

Online reports suggest that Yellow Cab is investigating this complaint and if identified, he faces suspension. Victoria Buzz has reached out to the company for comment, but has not heard back.

Phiefer’s Facebook post has been shared over 1,300 times as of publication, and garnered hundreds of comments – some of which share other passengers’ negative experiences with Yellow Cab.
