RCMP search for suspect after Sooke home invasion

Share

A home invasion and robbery in the wee hours of Monday, April 16th has shaken the residents of Church Road.

Sooke RCMP responded to the call at 3:10 AM in a trailer on the 2200 block of Church Road, where the victims had been robbed of several items including some cash.

The suspect was wearing a disguise and carrying a weapon when he forced the two residents to hand over their belongings, before fleeing the scene on foot.

There are no detailed accounts of what he looks like due to the cover of darkness and the fact that he was wearing a mask.

A series of unfortunate events

Later that day, a packaged bag of controlled drugs was found in the 6600 block of nearby Acreman Road in Sooke, leading officers to suspect that there may be a connection between the home invasion and the drugs.

“The bags contained mainly methamphetamine but also a good assortment and quantity of controlled prescription drugs including oxycontin,” stated RCMP S/Sgt Jeff McArthur. “Presently we are awaiting forensic analysis of the containers; in excess of 50 grams of methamphetamine and hundreds of pills.”

Yet another incident – described as a disturbance – between a man and a woman happened at approximately the same time as the home invasion, bringing it under police scrutiny as something that could also be linked to the robbery.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to call the Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
