Victoria’s Chief of Police was in Las Vegas during last night’s shooting

Last night, a gunman on a high floor of a Las Vegas hotel shot rapidly at an outdoor concert festival.

The October 1 attack killed at least 58 people and injured hundreds of others in one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.

More details continue to emerge, including the death of at least two Canadians: Jordan McIldoon, 23, of Maple Ridge, B.C, and Jessica Klymchuk, a single mother of four from Edmonton, Alberta.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino complex when shots rang out Sunday night.

The tragedy also has a Victoria connection, as Victoria Police Chief Del Manak was in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino complex, where the shooting occurred.

Del Manak was on vacation with his family and staying at the resort.

Victoria Police tweeted the information this morning. Luckily, neither Chief Manak nor his family were injured.
