The Oak Bay Beach Hotel is thrilled to once again welcome back a long standing tradition of big screen releases to the community through our regularly scheduled movie nights in the David Foster Foundation Theatre.
Your ticket includes a gourmet individual pizza*, house-made buttered popcorn and an ice cream sandwich for dessert. You can also purchase one of our micro-brews, fine wines or favourite libations and then sit back in our movie chair seats and enjoy Woman in Gold on the big screen!
While here, please take the time to view the incredible Art and Artist in Residence exhibit located at the Oak Bay Hotel. The Oak Bay Beach Hotel and Winchester Galleries have worked in close collaboration since the hotel’s re-opening in 2012. Winchester Galleries has hung the work of prominent Canadian artists throughout the hotel’s public rooms, as well as in all 100 of the hotel guest rooms.
Join us for Woman in Gold [Rated G] at 6:15pm.
Sixty years after she fled Vienna during World War II, an elderly Jewish woman, Maria Altmann, starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt’s famous painting ‘The Lady in Gold’. Together with her inexperienced but plucky young lawyer Randy Schoenberg, she embarks upon a major battle which takes them all the way to the heart of the Austrian establishment and the U.S. Supreme Court, and forces her to confront difficult truths about the past along the way.
Tickets are $24 per person + tax.
