Man pushing shopping cart across Canada for youth homelessness to arrive in Victoria

Share

Sometimes making a difference only takes a walk.

Well, a 9100km walk, to be exact.

Joe Roberts has been pushing a shopping cart across Canada for sixteen months to raise awareness and money for youth homelessness.

You can be a part of the second-last leg of his walk on Thursday, September 14th at 11:30am, joining Roberts as well as the Threshold Housing Society.

Pushing A Shopping Cart Across Canada

Formerly homeless, Roberts got involved in the drug scene at just nine years old. He dropped out of high school, was imprisoned for drug possession, and was falling into t that spiral so many fall victim to.

When he was 18, however, everything changed. He enrolled in an intensive alcohol and drug treatment program, and started upon his inspiring story of success.

Four years later he would graduate with a 3.94 GPA at Loyalist College in Ontario.

Now, Joe is a successful CEO and author.

Paying it Forward

To pay it forward, he began a 9100km journey across Canada 16 months ago, pushing a shopping cart to raise awareness and money for youth homelessness.

He’s already pushed the cart 8,167km since leaving Mile Zero in Newfoundland on May 1st, 2016. Victoria will be his second to last leg before finishing the final 15 days in Vancouver.

The walk will begin at BC Legislature at 11:30am, and will conclude at Mile Zero.
