Canada’s largest independent bookstore and one of Victoria’s most beloved businesses is hosting a “book warming” party to christen their new event space at their new location on Fort Street.

Local authors Jack Knox, Briony Penn, and Anny Scoones are the featured speakers, and will spend the night reading from their work and facilitating discussion.

All three authors are renowned for their wonderful and relatable writing about Vancouver Island and B.C., and they will be available to sign copies of their books.

Russell Books moved into their new location in mid-November, celebrating with breaking a world record for the world’s largest free-standing stack of Guinness World Records books.

The company is now located on 747 Fort St. (the former Staples building), across the street from their previous store.

While the previous Russells Book was notorious for its multitude of staircases leading from section to section, the new space has increased accessibility, with an escalator and elevator available to the public.

Russell Books’ new store is 18,000 sq. ft, about 6,000 sq. ft larger than its previous store, which means there is plenty of room for lots of fans of Victoria’s local literature scene to attend!
