Three people hospitalized with serious injuries after head-on crash in Sooke

West Shore RCMP are investigating a head-on collision that occurred early Wednesday morning that sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash, which temporarily shut down Sooke Road in both directions, happened at approximately 5 a.m. near the 4900 block.

According to police, a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by a 41-year-old woman, was travelling eastbound when it crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a westbound taxi.

The taxi, driven by a 65-year-old man, also had a youth passenger onboard.

Emergency crews, including BC Emergency Health Services and Metchosin Fire and Rescue, rushed to the scene. All three individuals were transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Sooke Road remained closed for about two hours while emergency personnel attended the scene and investigators gathered evidence. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no charges have been laid at this time.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact West Shore RCMP as the investigation continues.
