West Shore RCMP looking to identify suspect involved in hit and run of cyclist

West Shore RCMP are looking to identify a suspect involved in the hit and run of a cyclist. 

At around 12:30 a.m. this morning, Thursday, May 9th, police responded to a report of a cyclist who had been struck by a vehicle while riding in a roundabout.

According to police, the suspect vehicle is a red Jeep Wrangler, which struck the cyclist in the roundabout on Watkiss Way near Helmcken Road in View Royal (near Victoria General Hospital).

The vehicle failed to remain on scene. The cyclist suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. 

The suspect driving the Wrangler is described as a man with dark, medium length hair and a full beard, wearing a blue jacket.

As West Shore RCMP investigate, they’re asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this incident to contact police. 

Additionally, if you were driving in the area between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. and have a dashcam, you may have captured the suspect vehicle and officers would like for you to come forward.
