You have to WATCH what happened at this year’s ‘Dancing with the Cops’ (VIDEO)

Until last Thursday, who could’ve guessed that our local law enforcement was so light on their feet?

Back by popular demand, the second annual ‘Dancing with the Cops’ event saw Saanich police officers taking part in a dance-off to fundraise for Tour de Rock—a two-week 1,000-kilometre bike ride for a team of police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and corporate guest riders who raise money to fight childhood cancer.

Each cop was partnered up with a dance instructor who would teach them a routine; that performance was then judged and scored at the end of the night. (If it sounds like Dancing with the Stars, you’re not far off.)

For those who couldn’t make it to the event in person, Victoria Buzz teamed up with Roll.Focus. Productions for a live Facebook broadcast.

The dance competition started at 8 p.m., and all was proceeding normally… until this happened (sound doesn’t start until around 25:30):

Cst. Heather Hunter and Cst. Matt Morin pulled off a classic bait and switch with their walker and cane routine, with one of the judges calling them the “swaggiest grandparents” she’s ever seen.

The fun didn’t stop there, however, as Cst. Adam Defrane and Melanie pulled off a dramatic reveal that left everyone speechless (around 53:40):

So who won? Well it ended in a tie and the winner had to be decided with a showdown that went something like this:

Ultimately, the judges picked Hunter and Morin as this year’s winner, proving that the young crowd still has a thing or two to learn from its elders!
