Wakanda Summer Gala

What:To wrap up the end of the annual AfriCa Fest & African Cultural Week, we’re bringing the kingdom of Wakanda to Victoria, BC. Celebrate the beauty of the African continent with great food, Fashion, music, and dance.
African born Designers from living on the Island and various parts of Canada are coming together to showcase their creations.
Join us for this unforgettable night and enjoy one of the biggest African fashion show in Victoria!
This event is for everybody regardless of ethnicity. If you love fashion, if you love culture, if you love to explore creative ideas, you are an epicurean, love dance and music, This night is for you.

Goldstream Farmers Market

What: Goldstream Farmers Market – Strawberries are starting to appear, as well as early tomatoes, fabulous greens, farmgate meat and, of course, talented crafters and artisans offering stone art, bracelets, textile art, dream catchers and body care products – all grown or made locally. And face painting for the kiddies!!
The playground waterpark is open and there will be wonderful music (as always).

Government House Garden Party

What: The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, cordially invites you to attend a Garden Party in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.Featuring music by The Commodores Big Band at the Government House Bandshell, a crown making craft station for kids and light refreshments.
In the spirit of an English garden party, wear your hats, gloves and finery!

Stanley Cup Finals

What: With wall to wall tv’s you will catch every second of the action as the Loft will be showing the entire Stanley Cup finals.
The Las Vegas Golden Knights look to make history vs the Washington Capitals as the first team in NHL history to win the cup in their first year.
The Capitals look to make a little history of their own as future hall of famer Alexander Ovechkin looks to hoist the Cup after 13 years with the Caps.

Fireworks at the HarbourCats game

What:The fireworks go just 10 or 20 minutes after the final out. The pyrotechnics take place after the game versus the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Roller Derby! Belles of the Brawl & Margarita Villains

What: Both the Margarita Villains and the Belles of the Brawl will be taking the track tonight, and they’re out for glory. First up, Belles of the Brawl square off against the Strait Shooters from Port Angeles, WA. You won’t want to miss this cross-border rivalry! Then at 7:30pm the Margarita Villains take on the Island Smash-up from Vancouver Island.
They’ll have cold beer & cider, a 50/50 raffle, half-time entertainment and much more! Fun for the whole family!

World Oceans Day

What: World Fisheries Trust will once again be partnering with the Township of Esquimalt to host a celebration of community, conservation and all things ocean related! This free community event will feature something for everyone: a silent auction, guided canoe trips along the Gorge, live music by local musicians, food trucks, children’s activities and a wide variety of local vendors

Straight Outta Wakanda: The Summer Gala Afterparty

What: This is the OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY to the Wakanda Summer Gala event! The gala is “bringing the kingdom of Wakanda to Victoria, BC to celebrate the beauty of the African continent with great food, fashion, music, and dance” – and that’s where we come in!! The James Bay Community Market

What: You will love the fine handcrafted wood items, whimsical home décor and naturally crafted body products. Boat for Hope Victoria

What: Children with special needs and their families are treated to a day of pirate adventure on the high seas at Boat for Hope, a fundraiser in support of Variety – the Children’s Charity. The annual event, which takes place in Victoria’s inner harbour, brings together the local boating and business community to create an unforgettable experience for kids who may otherwise never be able to enjoy such an adventure due to mobility, financial and other challenges they face in their day-to-day lives. For the hundreds of kids who participate every year, the day is a wonderful opportunity to get out on the water (with marauding pirates never far away) and enjoy a BBQ in the park.

Time’s Arrow: An Improv Show that Travels Through Time

What: The spaces around us are rich with history and ripe with future possibilities. Spaces are defined by wonderful, terrible, forgettable, sublime individual and collective experiences, yet we exist in them for only one moment at a time. Time’s Arrow invites you to take a walk through the spaces of the past and future using stories from the audience to explore the layers of life piled in a single location. Every performance will be completely improvised and unique, based on that evening’s stories from the audience.

Murray Hatfield Magic Show

What: Come for an evening of cutting edge illusions, magic, juggling and comedy! Featuring Canada’s favourite magical duo Murray Hatfield & Teresa, who will be performing jaw dropping illusions with a dash of mischief and mayhem, and incredible guest performer Aaron Gregg, a master juggler!

Marvellous Mugs Pottery Show & Sale

What: MARVELLOUS MUGS will showcase the pottery styles of seven Island mug-makers: Two Hoots resident potter Michael Giles of Cobble Hill; fellow Cowichan Valley clay artists Cathi Jefferson, Bronwyn Arundel, and Franziska Ditter Ebbesen; Victoria potters Mary Loria and Sarah Leckie; and Sooke artist Vincent Fe of Dirty Dragon Studio. Their artful mugs include a variety of special surface treatments, from salt glazes to photo transfers, hand-built rivets to sgraffito artwork, fanciful robots and charming animal illustrations.

Improv Cabaret!

Herbal Medicine Making Workshop

What: Herbalist, Lily Fawn, shares with you the secrets of medicinal medicine making. She will walk participants through the different types of medicinal infusions, oils, ointments, vinegars and the various ways to make them. This herbal workshop is designed seasonally in order to utilize fresh wild-gathered or herbs from the garden. This session will also offer an informative introduction to a materia medica of the herbs used in the class and receive a detailed handbook outlining all the information covered in class. You will get an opportunity for hands-­‐on participation in making your own herbal salve, vinegar and aromatherapy spray. Take your creation home! Herbal tea and Treats are complimentary during class time.
