The Nanaimo RCMP detachment was closed and evacuated for upwards of 10 hours on Tuesday after the investigation of a suspicious package.
The package was discovered during the course of an investigation around 10 p.m., and was brought back to the detachment, according to RCMP.
Due to the unknown nature of the item, the decision was made to evacuate the detachment.
The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit was brought in early Wednesday morning, and removed the package to be disposed of accordingly.
An investigation is continuing.
