Share

A Nanaimo woman returning from work on her lunch break got more than she bargained for after finding a man in the process of robbing her home on June 14.

The man broke in to the home, located in the 400 block of Hewgate Street, at approximately 11:30 a.m., and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The homeowner told police that she discovered the man in her bedroom after returning home and hearing noises. The man was found sitting at her desk and rummaging through her purse.

The woman yelled at the man to stop, at which point he climbed out the bedroom window and escaped on a bicycle.

The suspect is a white male, and appeared to be in his thirties. A full face shield obscured most of his features, but he was also wearing a grey sweater and blue jeans.
